About the author

Cleophus J. LaRue is the Francis Landey Patton Professor of Homiletics at Princeton Theological Seminary. He is a prolific author who specializes in the theory and method of African American preaching and worship. An ordained minister in the National Baptist Convention of America, LaRue is the former pastor of churches in Texas and New York.
He is a frequent speaker at churches, seminaries, and conferences throughout the country and is a member of the Academy of Homiletics. He lectures and preaches throughout the United States and has taught homiletics on five different continents.
Major Publications
His most recent work entitled: Rethinking Celebration: From Rhetoric to Praise, is published by Westminster John Knox Press and due out in the summer of 2016.
