Stay With Me by Becky Wade is another heart pounding, powerful, sweet romance that will capture your attention. This is the first novel in the new Misty River series.Popular Bible study author and motivational speaker Genevieve Woodward finds herself in a stranger's guest house. When Aussie Sam Turner finds her, he wants her out! But Gen finds a way to persuade him to let her rent the cottage, and even with all his walls up, Sam finds his heart melting.Becky Wade has written a beautiful story about two troubled people, who find themselves in life's situations as they face the struggles of pain and loneliness. There is so much going on in this story that captures your heart and attention. This story tackles some serious issues. Gen is haunted by flashbacks about being one of the Miracle Five, five teenagers who were trapped by an earthquake and were the only survivors. Always wanting to appear "perfect" she hides her battle with addiction.Sam's feelings of guilt and regret comes from his worst failure and surviving life in isolation is all wants. But when he learns Gen's secret he cannot abandon her. He only wants Gen to follow his rules. No more pills, get counseling, and don't fall in love with him. Sam is a great hero. This story is one of hope, love, redemption and forgiveness, with a hint of a mystery. Ms Wades ability to use words to magnify the depth of feelings surrounding the struggles of addictions gives place to the very real problems many face today. And the relationship between Sam and Gen blossoms and blooms as their struggles draws them together.Becky Wades books have always captured me, as she has a way of bringing her characters to life in such moving ways, flaws and all. Her characters are well crafted, honest about failures and find value in forgiveness and second chances. To say I loved this book would be an understatement. Good clean contemporary romance.Definitely a 5+ rating.A special thanks to the author/Prism Book Tours for a copy of this book. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

Wow!! I'm still reeling from the emotions of this story!
Becky Wade writes such emotional, realistic, yet charming stories, that my heart comes out changed at the end because I always live the characters struggles in an intense way! That's what happens to me in her books, I always feel part of the story, related to the characters in some way. They are always flawed, but the author shows me that even if we can break sometimes, God is the absolute Healer, and He doesn't mind our brokenness as long as we put our trust in Him and let Him bring good out of every -even bad- situation. It's not easy to render God the control of our lives, and Becky Wade portrays this human trait to perfection, but the outcome when we surrender to God is a sight to behold!
Genevieve has lived a high profile perfect life, a perfect example for so many years, being a Bible Study author and speaker, but her facade is about to fall, when her addiction to Oxycontin becomes difficult to overcome and the exhaustion of keeping appearances just takes its toll on her. Sam Turner finds her asleep, deeply asleep in his cottage, and knows from the beginning this woman means trouble. He wants a quiet life for himself, even if loveless, but peaceful, to overcome a past that still haunts him. Is Genevieve a person sent from God to redeem himself or is God wanting him to be his instrument in Gen's overcoming her med addiction and remaking of herself?
This is a very realistic and relatable story that will tug at your heartstrings. It will make you -at least it made me- cry -no sob- and laugh out loud at the same time. It will make you reflect upon your own life and make you want to be a better person after reading it. There's also a mystery related to Gen's parents that keeps you intrigued...
I have a family member that struggles with another type of addiction, and I felt related, and felt it was very realistically portrayed. A hard struggle to be sure, but I love that her stories are full of hope and redemption.
I loved Gen's sister, Natasha, and hope to read her story in a future book in the series.
A heartfelt novel that will leave you satisfied and inspired! One of Becky's best stories! Next to True to You, my favorite!
I definitely recommend this story and the beginning of what promises to be a wonderful series!

I have loved all of Becky Wade's books so expected to love this one as well, however, it far exceeded my expectations. I was drawn in from the very beginning when Sam found a stranger asleep in his guesthouse, that he couldn't wake up. He asked himself, "Is she dead?"

Genevieve, who had been found asleep, was shocked that she went into a house that was not her own and climbed in bed and fell asleep. She is a well-known author of Bible studies for women, as well as a popular speaker. She was prescribed OxyContin after ankle surgery the previous year, however, hadn't quite been able to quit taking them. She had shopped around for pain doctors who would be willing to write her a new prescription, all the while presenting her nearly perfect image to her adoring fans. She had come her small hometown in Georgia to visit her parents, relax, write and go through opiod withdrawal, however, she realizes she can't stay with her parents while going through withdrawal so she goes back to Sam and asks to rent the guesthouse which she refers to as the cottage. He finally agreed with a some pretty strict conditions. One is, that he has the right to go into the cottage anytime to search for pills if he suspects she's still taking them. He also insists she needs to tell someone in her family of her addiction. She agrees to tell her sister, Natasha. When in middle school, Natasha, Gen, and three other kids on a missions trip in El Salvador, were trapped in rubble for eight days after a devastating earthquake that killed many. The five kids were known for the miracle of living through such an experience and traveled the world sharing their experience, giving God all the glory. In between the main story of this book, every few chapters there is a fascinating flashback to the five kids trapped in the basement of a collapsed building.

There is a intriguing element of suspense in this story as Gen also came home to question her parents about a mysterious note received in the mail alluding to something her parents had done. She wanted to question them about what it could be, however, they both agreed they had no idea. When a second letter arrived that was threatening, Gen and Natasha decide to do some investigating of their own.

As Gen suffers through withdrawal, Sam and Natasha become her only support. Sam, who owns a restaurant brings her healthy food choices, and even prepares a few meals for her. Sam's past includes a girlfriend who he loved, that was also addicted to prescription pain pills who died of an overdose. As a result, he has closed himself off from most people and lives a pretty reclusive life on a farm.

As this story progressed, I had a hard time putting it down - Gen's struggle with life without Oxy,brought to light the seriousness of opiod addition and the difficulty of withdrawal. Sam's reclusive lifestyle, the secretive investigation that was ongoing of Natasha and Genevieve's parents all came together as a beautifully, heartfelt and intriguing story. One that I'm still thinking about.

Stay with me is a compelling story with plenty of secrets and surprising developments. I was interested and wanted to find out how things worked out, or didn’t work out. The characters are well developed with plenty of flaws to overcome. The characters’ relationships with God are an integral part of the story. I really wanted to finish the book and find out how it all turned out in the end.

This was my first Becky Wade book. I now understand why so many people love it. This book was intense. Maybe the fact that my husband was in rehab last year made it more so; I don't know. But I understand. I understand why Sam doesn't trust her. I understand why he needs to search her things. I understand why he has so many misgivings. I also understand Gen's need to be "perfect." I understand her need to feel like she has to work to pay God back. My dad was a pastor. I understand that pressure.

I don't think I'd ever really paid attention to what this book was about before. It's about addiction. And forgiveness. And grace. And mercy. And unrelenting love. And I'm not talking about between two people. This book was soul-wrenching. I didn't want to stop reading, yet it was so intense that I had to take a break between chapters.

There were also humorous moments to break up the intensity. I love that Natasha's living a year of Jane Austen (if I could get away with it, I would, too!). And I love that she's terrible at knitting, but continues to do so, because it's Austen-esque. I also rather enjoyed reading Sam's Australian accent. To myself. In my head. Because I don't speak in accent unless it's southern.

This is a book that I will need to get in hardcopy, and not just on my kindle. This book was wonderful, and I look forward to reading more of her writing.

And she does it again! This is my favourite so far! I discovered Becky so long ago with her first book, My Stubborn Heart. With each new book, I find more intrigue, excitement and ultimately, beautiful life lessons that point to God every time. It's because of the mystery, the added story of the missions trip and the changeling wrestle with being transparent that all added up to make this a very exciting and humbling read. Thank you Becky. Your talent and giftings continue to amaze me!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Christy Award Nomination
Reviewed in Australia on October 6, 2021
When I saw this story had been nominated for a Christy award, I thought I'd have a read. And I think it is a worthy contender. A social media post from Becky Wade with a some behind the scenes information piqued my interest. She talked about getting first hand accounts from women who had struggled with addiction like the main character of Stay With Me, and I believe those insights served to strengthen the story line.

After surviving an earthquake as a young girl, Genevieve Woodward spends her adult life trying to pay God back. She is a hugely popular Bible Study author and speaker but has been struggling with a recent opioid addiction. When a threatening letter alluding to something in her parents' past brings her back to her home town to investigate, she convinces Sam to let her stay at his farm's cottage/guest house to detox.

As Gen battles to withdraw from Oxy, Sam battles with his own demons. He has been through this before and is torn between wanting to help Gen and terrified he won't be able to because he failed someone else. Gen and Sam are such opposites in character and I loved how their relationship developed.

When her parents' past comes to light, Gen must face what they have done as well as her own failings. Will they each 'own up' to what they have done? And if so, what will happen to their standing in the community?

Highly recommend.

Once again, Becky Wade did not disappoint with her great new story "Stay With Me". It deals with a more serious subject, addiction to painkillers, but is handled in a most wonderful way. And the hero, Australian Sam, is definitely one I'll remember for a long time!
