Why was the German army defeated on the Western Front? Did its morale collapse? Or was it beaten by the improved military effectiveness of the British army? Jonathan Boff offers an innovative, comparative analysis of these key issues during the 'Hundred Days' campaign of 1918 which challenges existing interpretations.

Very Good
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 September 2017Verified Purchase
Extremely good book. Looks logically at the activities of the 3rd Army at the end of the war, and if you are a NZer you will find information about the 1st NZ Division. Also raises some interesting points which run counter to conventional thinking, the British Army was a finely honed machine by this point and its pursuit and the amount of pressure it put on the German Army certainly destroys the myth that the Germans were unbeaten in the field.
