“We view the novel through the mindset of the antagonist. That is not a spoiler at all, you are very much in his head, seeing his very broken view of the world. He’s a veteran, adrift in Los Angeles, and he has a very intense misogyny that plays out in an interesting way. So, it’s a novel where you already know who the killer is. So the mystery is in how and whether he is going to be caught. One of his good friends is a police officer, but – without spoiling the novel – it won’t be the police who figure it out. If anything, the police are too preoccupied with their idea of what a criminal should look like that they can’t see what’s in front of them.” Read more...
