Carl Sferrazza Anthony is historian of the National First Ladies Library. He has written a dozen books about presidential families, including a two-volume survey, First Ladies. A former speechwriter for Nancy Reagan, he wrote the introduction to Hillary Clinton’s An Invitation to the White House. He has also interviewed almost every first lady of the last half-century.
