Conclave
by Robert Harris
Conclave, by British thriller writer Robert Harris, is a fictional account of the election of a new pope in the Vatican. It’s full of twists and turns and intrigue, but as always with Harris, the book is based on solid research, and you’ll find out a lot about the way a new pope is elected. It was published in 2016 and made into a blockbuster movie in 2024 with Ralph Fiennes, though, as is almost always the case, the book is better.
