“Bok’s book came out in 1978, and even today it is still widely read and discussed. At the time, people in ethics were focusing a lot on justice and rights. Bok basically founded the contemporary ethical discussion of deception, and helped get ethicists to pay a lot more attention to truth telling and trust as well.
