He is the director of Unreal City Audio, where he produces immersive, critically acclaimed tours of 17th and 18th-century London. His PhD was on the impact of the mass media in the first age of press freedom. He writes for the Guardian and Telegraph, and has appeared in history documentaries on BBC4, ITV and BBC2.
