His crime and horror novels have been named best of the year by NPR, The Washington Post, ALA, Booklist, and WBUR. His noir novel Small Crimes has been made into a Netflix film, and his horror novel The Caretaker of Lorne Field is currently in development with plans to film it in 2026. He lives in Rhode Island.
