Hope: The Autobiography

Hope is the autobiography of Pope Francis, the 266th pope of the Catholic Church, published shortly before his death in 2025. Francis was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Argentina in 1936, the son of Italian immigrants. He was ordained in 1969, became archbishop of Buenos Aires in 1998, and a cardinal in 2001. He was the first Latin American pope. As the Financial Times put it in its review of the book, while Hope: The Autobiography is by no means a tell-all, it is hard not to be charmed by its humour and its enthusiasm.
