Alice Waters runs this absolutely amazingly cool restaurant in Berkley and popularized the whole locally sourced organic thing we’re so familiar with now. I got this book and then I went to see Alice Waters talking about it and then I said “I want to come work at Chez Panisse.
“All the Chez Panisse books are great: it’s hard to choose one. But Chez Panisse Vegetables is great because Alice Waters is the woman who globalised the whole fresh groceries thing. She started the farmer’s market movement with her emphasis on organically produced food that tastes wonderful, and her recipes are very simple but inspiring, because you think if you do cook seasonally your food is going to taste good.
