The next meeting of our Latin Lovers Bookclub will be Monday, January 16th, 2017 at 6pm on the top floor of Waterstones, Gower St.
For this month, we’re reading Book VI of the Virgil’s epic, the Aeneid.
If you’re still doubting whether you need to read it, the Aeneid has twice been recommended in Five Books interviews, as one of the five best books on the Role of Religion, by Selena O’Grady and as one of the best books on refugees by Patrick Kingsley, author of The New Odyssey (excuse the mixed classical epics)
NB Knowledge of the Latin language is not essential.
FIVE BOOKS BOOK CLUBS
Five Books runs two book clubs. In addition to our Latin Lovers Book Club, which meets the second Monday of the month in Waterstones, Gower Street in London at 6pm, we also have an Italian Book Club, which meets the first Monday of every month in Waterstones, Oxford, at 6.30pm.
