Strolling through Istanbul
by Hilary Sumner Boyd and John Freely
It is a wonderfully evocative guidebook that is a great pleasure to read. The authors had walked around and made sense of the city in a way that was very exciting. It is still a great introduction to the many layers of the city: it starts from the top layer, which is the contemporary world, and goes deeper and deeper into the past.
