John Kroger
John Kroger is director of the Rodel Fellowships in Public Leadership and a vice president of the Aspen Institute. Previously he served as the inaugural Chief Learning Officer of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, providing oversight for all education institutes and programs for 900,000 civilian and military personnel, with a budget of more than $1.7bn. He previously served as Oregon’s Attorney General from 2009-2012. Aged 17, Kroger enlisted in the Marine Corps, and was deployed on both a submarine and an assault carrier. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in philosophy at Yale University and a law degree from Harvard University.
