This was my favorite genre as a kid, and I didn’t even know it. If you have a kid who loves their dog and Minnesota, and snow, or Canada, or even christmas this is for them!

This was my favorite book as a kid. And even now, as an adult. It's for boys and girls and everyone but it was very important for me to read as a girl who was going through puberty, and it has borzoi and who can go wrong with that.

Based on a legend, this is a true classic and was read to me in school. Be warned, dog-loving pure kids might be saddened by it.

This book involves Bo, the daughter of two dads! Which was shocking to me as a sheltered kid, but I accepted it and loved it at school. There's a bunch of nefarious actions here and there and general kid-loving fun.

This is less for the dog-loving kids, and more for the wolf-loving, snow-loving, map-loving kids. As a kid I was one as well, which is why this book spoke to my younger self so much. The characters are best friends, and barely adults but try to act grown up and have fun in the wilderness. Be warned there's fair bit of racism and violence in here.
