Alan Rusbridger is Principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford and Chair of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. He was formerly editor-in-chief of The Guardian. He joined the paper as a reporter in 1979. As editor from 1995, he oversaw the launch and development of the Guardian website.
