She has written award-winning biographies of TS Eliot, Virginia Woolf, Charlotte Bronte and Mary Wollstonecraft, as well as a memoir. Originally from Cape Town, Gordon is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of PEN. Her most recent book is Lives Like Loaded Guns, a biography of Emily Dickinson
