Shahidul Alam is an award-winning Bangladeshi photographer and activist. He is an honorary fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and visiting professor at the University of Sunderland in the UK. Alam’s book My Journey as a Witness has been described as “the most important book ever written by a photographer” by John Morris, the former picture editor of Life Magazine. In 2014 he was awarded the Shilpakala Padak by the President of Bangladesh and in 2018 the Humanitarian Award from the Lucie Awards.
