Violence
by James Gilligan
This book was profoundly important because it said: ‘Don’t try to deal with violence as a moral question of good and ill. It is like a public health matter which is hugely damaging to our society locally and globally and you have to understand it as a question of disturbance and damage.’ When we begin to see violence in that kind of way it begins to open all sorts of new channels to try and deal with violence in society.
