Justin E. H. Smith is a professor of history and philosophy of science at the University of Paris 7 – Denis Diderot. He has authored several books including The Philosopher: A History in Six Types and Nature, Human Nature and Human Difference. He is also a regular contributor to The New York Times, Harper’s Magazine, n+1, Slate, and Art in America, and an editor-at-large of Cabinet Magazine. His latest book is Irrationality: A History of the Dark Side of Reason.
